Vivek Ramakrishnan is a co-founder of One City Schools, Incorporated (formerly named One City Early Learning Centers). He worked closely with One City's founder and CEO Kaleem Caire to develop the concept paper and business plan for One City's preschool in 2013. Prior to returning to Madison in 2018 to join One City Schools full-time, Vivek was an award-winning 12th grade math and personal finance teacher with Freedom Preparatory Academy Charter Schools and Teach For America in Memphis, Tennessee.
As the Director of Operations and Strategy at One City Schools from 2018-2020, Vivek provided leadership to the organization's operations, compliance and strategic planning processes. On the operational side, his responsibilities involve working with state agencies to ensure compliance, operational budgeting and financial management, overseeing facilities and more. Vivek also helped guide One City's vertical expansion into a full elementary school, navigating the expansion approval process and developing One City's interim and long-term facilities projects.
A native of Madison, Vivek holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Columbia College, Columbia University in the City of New York. He currently serves as a part-time business advisor to One City Schools as he attends the Stanford Graduate School of Business to pursue his MBA.
