Donald Dantzler Jr.

Donald D. Dantzler Jr. is an education research professional, community leader, and public servant based in Fitchburg, Wisconsin. Currently serving as an Associate Research Scientist at the Socially Responsible Evaluation in Education Center at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, he is nearing completion of his Ph.D. in Educational Leadership & Policy Analysis at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His professional background includes significant roles at Madison Metropolitan School District, Wisconsin Center for Education Research, and various academic institutions, where he has focused on culturally responsive evaluation, educational equity, and program development.

In addition to his research career, Dantzler holds key leadership positions in public service, serving as both a City Council member for Fitchburg and as Chair of the Board of Trustees for Madison College. Under his leadership at Madison College, he has guided strategic initiatives including a presidential search, while his work on the Fitchburg City Council focuses on housing affordability, transportation improvements, and education support. Previously, he served on Fitchburg's Police and Fire Commission, demonstrating his commitment to civic engagement.

Dantzler's community involvement extends through numerous organizations where he champions educational equity and mentorship. He serves on the boards of 100 Black Men of Greater Madison, Sherman Phoenix, and Junior Achievement of Wisconsin, while previously chairing Communities Learning to Invest and Mobilize for Business. His expertise in data-driven decision-making and passion for addressing educational disparities have earned him recognition, including being named to In Business Magazine's Forty Under 40 Class of 2023 and receiving the 2024 Inspire Award from the Urban League of Young Professionals.
